This is a remix I did of the Shin Megami Tensei 2 battle theme. The original game was on Snes, so I remixed it for Snes as well.
The tool I used to write the music was AddmusicK, which uses MML (basically writing music in a text file). In addition, the Snes uses small samples for instrument sounds. All of the samples used in this track, with the exception of one used at the very end, were created by me. Many hours of blood and sweat went into this, so I hope you enjoy it!
The mp3 is a little quiet so it doesn't blare your ears off. This was sort of an accident because I didn't have the player volume up very high and didn't realize that its volume also reflected the rendered file's volume. Ultimately I decided not to amplify the file because having it a bit quiet is often a good thing.
The audio file was created with Snes SPC700 Player, at a sampling rate of 32000 HZ (later resampled to 44100). The snes Gaussian interpolation option was used to stay as faithful as possible to the original hardware. No postprocessing was applied to the audio other than resampling. The SPC file is available upon request, as well as the mml and samples. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions about Snes music or anything musical in general. Also don't hesitate to post a comment!
